Le Beaujolais…

Le Beaujolais is a famous Vine region in France where you’ll can find beautiful landscape, good food and… splendid vine of course

Please, visit the official tourism website.

The Slovak vines are very good too, espacially the white vine. But I am a little bit less convince by the hot vine from the Bratislava Chrismas market.

A visit to the ballet

5 Arion members spent Thursday evening at the ballet - Tchaikovsky’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Opera House in Bratislava.

The spectacle presented on stage was lovely. Some of the dancing - especially the male soloists- was of a high quality and it is good to have  a live orchestra to accompany the action.

The theatre is quite small but in good condition. It must be very hot in the summer!

Sightseeing

We were able to speed up the program and order a guide for a city walk. The guide, an elder Slovak man, was really good at presenting the city, the history of the area and his own views on how things were going. He took us around most of the Old City and with every stop told us about the buildings and sites we could see from there. He also told about the history of the area from the first known Celtic kingdom 2000 years ago to the time of fascist and communist dictatorship.

Restaurant San Marten

This restaurant is not traditional Slovak and it is quite new, which mean the revue can change a lot when they are more into their own routines, but it is the best place I have eaten in Slovakia.

The restaurant opened only eight days ago and specialize in Italian food – especially pasta. However I got a salad and risotto. It was very good and the others, who got all sorts of different Italian inspired food, were also very happy about the meal. We joked a lot about the fact that it was actually the German man Peter that suggested we went here and not one of the food experts from France. I recommend this place.

Saint Nicolaus

Today it was Saint Nicolaus. In the schools some of the older children were dressed up and walked around giving out sweets to the younger children. In town there were also different things going on. One thing I saw was a man dressed as a white Santa Claus doing a play in a small cardboard theatre. I hope everyone behaved so that they got sweets and not potatoes…
